What a find. I was walking to the Plaza from Guadalupe. I had just been to the Design Center. After leaving the Center I crossed the street and I noticed a restaurant tucked away in the far corner of a parking lot. I walked in to check the menu. I was greeted by a lady who I later learned was the owner. I noticed on the menu board that they had a mushroom crepe. I love mushroom crepes and can't think of the last time I had one. The next day I went there for lunch. Of course I ordered the crepe which came with a salad. I was hoping that the sauce wouldn't be too heavy, but as it turned out I had nothing to worry about. They also had a newspaper rack with the New York Times, and the L.A. Times. I looked for the WSJ, but I think someone else was reading it. I haven't found any news stands in Santa Fe and I miss getting my daily dosage of news. The owner seemed to know just about everyone by name. When I went to the cashier to pay my bill I noticed a delicious bread pudding. I was told that it was served covered with all sorts of yummy stuff. I told myself that I needed to be strong and just walk away. I did. But then Saturday I decided to go to Saveur for breakfast, which I planned to top off with the pudding. The parking lot was empty, which I thought was odd. I walked to the door and read that their hours are 8:00-3:00 and that they are closed on the weekend. Saveur is off the beaten path, but near several government buildings including the DA. I'm guessing that's where they get much of their business. Today is Sunday. I can't wait to have breakfast tomorrow. I want to try that bread pudding. Because it's a holiday (Labor Day) I'll call first to make sure that they're open..

Great service. Great food. The Huevos Rancheros were awesome. Very pricey for a breakfast place (due to organic, fresh ingredients).

This place is great for breakfast. Stopping in for a breakfast burrito and a cafe mocha makes for a great day! The atmosphere is inviting, the food is freshly and expertly prepared and the coffee is perfect. If you have time, relax a while and ask the owner how she invented the breakfast burrito. (I think her claim is rather specious, but it makes for a good story to tell your friends when you recommend this place.)

Lunched here with local friends on their recommendation. WOW. Food is fresh, simply prepared, crisp flavorful tastes and lots of variety. We had the buffet salad bar, which is full of uniquely prepared goodies; a squash soup to sooth any pallet e and a Creme Brule that was heavenly. Highly recommend. Somewhat pricey but worth expense for the delight of the food. Good welcoming atmosphere too.

This place came recommended by a friend. The food was good and was fresh, but it was outrageously expensive at $45, and when I looked at my credit card bill a couple months after the fact, they had ended up charging me $85 for lunch!!! They must've added a large tip or something. Did they just do this because I was from out of town? Be warned. Or take the chance with a huge surprise on your credit card bill. Untrustworthy.

Always our favorite restaurant! Our children and grandchildren love to come here, too, when they're in town. Everyone loves being able to pick just what they want to eat, and just the right amount. The salmon is flown in fresh. My husband says the pecan pie gets better and better. He's tries it every visit, to be sure. We've never had breakfast here, but after reading the reviews, sounds like we must! Dee can be moody, it's part of being human. Like a French restaurant should be.

We have been thinking about SAVEUR for many years, since eating here a couple of times years ago on short trips to Santa Fe. It was remarkable then and remains so now. It is a gift to be able to choose exactly what you want from the huge selection of fresh foods, hot and cold, made recently, and pay for what you eat. I had six or seven small portions on my early lunch plate yesterday, and everything was delicious. Parking is very limited, but there is convenient meter parking adjacent in front of the capitol building. Read some of the prior reviews for explanations about the unusual ordering procedure, plus other tips. SAVEUR is an oasis in a food desert during the early morning and lunch hours in this region of Santa Fe. I wish it was open on the weekend, but that only makes me want to go there twice more this trip before we depart early Tuesday. Long live SAVEUR. I wish there were gems like it every place we went, as well as in our home town. UPDATED three days later, with another delicious buffet lunch featuring salmon plus loads of veggies and pasta. Then charming conversation with the owner. We really appreciate the dog friendly attitude at the three outdoor tables.

We were staying at an Inn just yards away from this little dining establishment so we decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were greeted by a very kind gentleman who inquired if we had ever dined there before. Upon answering to the negative, he explained the full range of food that was on the lunch menu for the day. There was a choice of cold and hot sandwiches, as well as a hot food 'buffet'. The buffet was priced by the pound, so I'm thinking the total could rise rather quickly. The food in the buffet looked very fresh and quite delicious, however we opted to share a turkey Panini with green chilis. My dining partner also had Watermelon Bisque, while I decided on having the French Onion soup as my side dish. It was well worth the nominal upcharge. We ate at the small outdoor patio, which fronts the street. However the traffic was not at all bothersome. We found the staff to be very courteous and professional. It was a very nice place to enjoy lunch. Nice selection of food, well prepared indeed.

So I saw this place doing a search on Yelp for Breakfast and thought I would get a nice breakfast / brunch from a place that was close by to my hotel. So I walked over to it and my first impressions were nice. The place has a fancy, European style cafe vibe to it. The staff are friendly and the selection of meals are wide, though there wasn't the breakfast or brunch choices I was looking for, mostly lunch stuff. I will say that the ingredients were fresh. So I got the tour from the Chef on how to order as it's a bit confusing to say the least. I picked the Buffalo Burger and Meatball Soup. The soup was delicious! I would of had that by itself if I would of known how bland the burger was going to be. The Buffalo Burger on the other hand, well even with the fresh ingredients was bland. I ordered it Medium Rare, which on hind site, was probably not the best choice. Though Buffalo is usually served like that, this, but without any type of spices or salt, it was lacking in flavor, even with the green chilies, which pretty much overpowered anything else. The medium rare was really rare. It was red through and through and not even warm. The bun was toasted, but black on the edges, which gave it a tiny bit of flavor, but nothing that could help this. there was no salt or pepper available to spice it up and I tried adding some ketchup, but it didn't help. So after enjoying the soup, I eat as much as I could stomach of the burger and left. I think I should of got the Ruben or something else, anything else. The place was getting busy for lunch, so I didn't bother bringing it up with the Chef, I just packed up and left. From the sound of the patrons that were there, they have a healthy regular group and they seem to like it so I think the place is OK, I just made the wrong choice with the wrong choice in the way it should of been prepared. Though I have to say it's a bit pricy, so be prepared.

Absolutely incredible breakfast. Probably the best place in Santa Fe for breakfast and lunch is great too. Delicious organic coffee and very dog friendly here! For breakfast I'd recommend the Eggs Antoinette. It's a special creation of the owner Dee. They also make the best chai I've ever had. Lunch or you can order a la carte or there's an incredible buffet. My favorites are the avocado with shrimp salad in it and the freshest greenest Brussel sprouts you've ever seen. Also the importance of hygiene and cleanliness are very obvious and can see all over. With the food all of the fruits and vegetables are washed in an antibacterial rinse just to be extra safe! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe and highly recommend it!

Very good French and Nouveau American cooking. The buffet and ordering setup is a little contrived, but the staff is very friendly and will always help out. The sandwiches are great, as are the salads. Little pricey, but given the location, that is expected. The proprietors are always friendly and up for a chat.

I love the hot plate specials here. The salmon is well-made and flavorful and the veggies are always steamed to perfection. Salad is good and the stuffed avocado with salmon is even better. I frequent Saveur once a week and I always have an espresso. And they impresively prepare the espresso romano style with lemon slice and a little chocolate. Watch out for weighing out your food. It can be quite pricey. The food, omg, the QUALITY, of the food is well worth the cost and for $20 you can eat the hot plate special (approx. $15) and have an espresso. It would be nice if they stayed open later, but such is the nature of French cafe's, eh?

I have passed this restaurant 1,000 x's and always wanted to try it, hoping it would be a little French pastry shop with sandwiches etc. Upon entering I felt like I was unfortunately transported to Morison's cafeteria circa 1982. I think ok, maybe the food is good. As I glanced at the salad bar it looked fresh.. Having not been there before it took me a second to figure out what was going on. There are white boards and blackboards and little paper menus at the door, not very straight forward. There is a salad buffet and hot special (14.99 lb) prominently displayed. Some of the salad buffet and menu items seemed French, other than that not really. Corned beef and cabbage was the hot special, and they had Rubens and other types of sandwiches. Deserts were hard to discern, they were individually wrapped styrofoam plates with cake slices... I decided to go with the French onion soup as it is one of my favorites, and got a few little pinches of Cesar salad, (not the best, tasted like mayo) 1 steamed (bland) asparagus spear, and 4 little cubes of pickled beets (too sweet no sour to balance) from the salad bar ( honestly it was a tiny portion). The salad totaled $6.50 and the soup was $8. I got my meal to go. When I started eating the soup it was pretty tasty. I then got a big blue ink spot in my cheese that was really unappetizing. As I continued to eat, the cheese started tasting like funky blue cheese or something rotten.. I got 1/4 through the soup and it started to make me feel nauseous from the smell and taste of that cheese. Normally its just melted Gruyère, however I called to ask about it and it turns out they use aged Romano as well... not good. I wish they specified that on the menu. Just says melted cheese and croûton I guess.. Over all, to spend almost $17 with tax and tip on this meal was depressing. The staff was very nice for the most part, almost forced. I do have to say I felt a bit uncomfortable with some of the interactions with some of the staff. I was discussing the menu with a nice gentleman behind the counter when another employee would walk by and give a short blunt answer to a question that wasn't directed at him, this happened a couple of times... I was then interrogated about which car was mine in the parking lot... like if I hadn't told her, my car would have been towed.. It was just kind of odd.. Dont think I will be returning. Bummer.

We were so happy to have breakfast here! Had we known about it we would have both breakfast and lunch here every day of our trip. The huevos rancheros were honestly my favorite food of the trip where great restaurants are everywhere! My husband and I are seriously wanting to move here. Nevermind that we found our dream house. We discovered the nicest and most interesting people most notably the couple Dee and her wonderful husband/chef. They know everyone and make one and all so welcome and happy. What a way to start the day!

Saveur - they had parking! First plus. Ordering was a bit confusing at first. There is a salad bar that you pay by the pound, daily hot entree specials, and soups. There is also a chalk board with the daily sandwiches prepared upon ordering. Second plus...the salad bar is not the usual fare, but instead a feast of well prepared gourmet fruits, veggies cheese and more, like pears poached in wine and marinated brussel sprouts, leaks - you get the picture - delicious unusual fare for average Americans. . There are friendly servers scurrying about, ready to answer any questions or fetch something else if you want, which was the third plus. About $45. for the two of us. Food costs a bit more in Santa Fe than eating out in just about any other part of the state. I feel this was a fair price for excellent food that was obviously prepare with love and respect to both the patrons and the culinary arts. I will return to Saveur if I can find it, and I will try next time I'm in Santa Fe. If it was just a little less confusing when you walk in, or if they had a host or hostess to explain the ordering protocol, they would have received a woohoo rating from me.

Not only is this restaurant OFFICIALLY the biggest rip off in Santa Fe but going here exposes the diner to the haunting hawk eye glare of the proprietor; a woman best suited to watching over a French brothel than a faux French restaurant. My dining companion and I, a man who is actually my boss, first had to shell out over $70 for breakfast then, after we paid so handsomely, the owner came over and asked if my 'date,' was my grandfather. The manners so lacking I will obviously NEVER dine here again and I warn you; frequent this restaurant at your own peril. If you like being insulted over your $7 cappuccino, enjoy.

Delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented food. Super friendly management and staff. This is a fantastic place for a quick, but memorable lunch in Santa Fe. It's a small place, so come early. Everything is delicious. The quiches are so light and fluffy, with amazingly flaky crust. Portions are generous! Sandwiches are great. Salmon is always a featured item. The dill sauce is a wonderful complement. Be sure to save room for one of their wonderful desserts and coffee!

I want to like this place more, I really do. For one thing, I love the audacity of combining buffet-style lunch - complete with the lime green plastic trays - with higher-end French food. I want to like it because the woman at the cash register was so sweet, and the staff was helpful. But, these are the issues I had with the restaurant: - I wanted crepes, but didn't know how to order them because the buffet was so prominently displayed when I came in that I thought it was the only option. Plus, one of the staff (over) explained to me how to use the buffet, but didn't explain that I could order off the menu. - I went down the buffet bar with my plate and picked out what I thought was a reasonable amount of food. Some romaine salad dressed with Caesar dressing. A couple roasted vegetables, a piece of beer battered fish and a tiny pile of spaghetti squash and a small coffee. When I checked out (by weight), it turned out to be $12! For lunch?? For a buffet?? - Supposedly the fish was salmon, but it didn't look pink and the flavor was so mild (and greasy) that it may as well have been some generic white fish served up at an English pub for fish 'n' chips. Everything else was good, but not worth the price. So, over-priced with a confusing layout and too many options. My dish was ok, but nothing special.

So I don't review often anymore, but I'm compelled because this place is fantastic! Every buffet item was irresistible and the beef was slow cooked to perfection. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. A little spendy- but worth the trip.

You would not think a buffet would be classy- but this is like having a very fancy family dinner- the food is cooked like you mom does when she makes a fancy meal. It tastes delicious and you serve yourself exactly what you want. You pay by weight, so don't over do it! Later in the day, near closing time, they offer reduced rates- but this food is worth it at any price.

Don't let the French name fool you- this place does up some serious huevos rancheros! We were the first customers in there on a weekday, and the service was fantastic! Don't miss the green chile croissant. It's awesome.

Every time I go to New Mexico I make a beeline for Saveur. The love affair we have originated several years ago when I walked there with my parents for the first time from Hotel Santa Fe (just down the street). We stumbled upon this unsuspecting corner restaurant and decided to give it a shot.. why not? Little did I know it would forever remain in my heart and in my list of must-have cravings. The place feels like your ordinary local hangout with small tables and chairs scattered fairly normally through a small sequence of rooms. There is a buffet situated (only for breakfast and lunch) in the main room with a stack of plates and a cash register as end posts. The part that sets Saveur apart from every other French buffet is definitely the buffet itself--an array of chicken, fish, fresh salads, specialty hors d'oeuvres, not to mention the award-winning display of desserts. The best thing one can do while in the state of New Mexico is venture up to the state capitol (Santa Fe) and grab a plate at Saveur. The next step would be to load it full of everything they have to offer for the day (there are special items every day, prepared fresh by their chefs). They base the price of each plate on the weight--because of this, I go for a large portion of fresh greens as these hardly weigh anything at all. The fish and chicken are always prepared to perfection and in gourmet fashion. The first dessert I tried was the award-winning Tres Leches Cake, which the owner proudly shared was proclaimed the best in our nation. Please, do yourself a favor and go to Saveur if you happen to be in New Mexico. You might make Santa Fe a permanent vacation destination as long as this restaurant remains.

OMG! This place is amazing from the salads to build your own sandwich. Even the wine is yummy. A pleasant surprise for us visiting from the Bay Area. Dee, one of the owners, is so sweet and helpful while we were visiting Santa Fe. We came for lunch one day and came back for breakfast a day later. Truly amazing!

This place cooks up some excellent French food, and I do mean excellent. The Crème brûlée was the best I've ever had, and I've tried way more than my fair share. The seafood crêpe was perfectly prepared, something of a miracle in the middle of the desert where the seafood is usually overcooked and drowned in other flavors. While the prices may be higher than average, you get what you pay for in quality. The owners are always there and *will* greet you, and may say hi during your meal too. If you're feeling particularly anti-social or grumpy, go somewhere else. Keep in mind that the format is a little different, too; you order what you want at a counter (or fill your plate at the "salad" bar, which has more than just salad -- charged by weight), pay for your food, get your own drinks (and refills), and any ordered food will be delivered to your table. Don't passive-aggressively glare at the hosts waiting for your water to be refilled, get up and fill it from the pitcher yourself.
